A Mid Century Modern Green Nursery for Nurture&

I’ve been in the nursery design business for almost 18 years and have seen a lot of furniture companies come and go. There are always new companies cropping up and it’s always interesting to see which ones become popular! One of those is Nurture&—a nursery glider company that launched in 2020. Their chairs have proven to be a customer favorite and I use them regularly in my designs! Since then, they’ve launched cribs and dressers too. With the launch of their new glider, the Austin, they asked me to design a Mid Century Modern inspired nursery around the chair.

The first layer a a Mid Century Modern nursery is wood tones, typically medium to darker woods that are warm. We chose the Nurture& Newport Crib and Newport Dresser in walnut because they not only have clean modern lines, but a gorgeous wood finish. The curved lines of the glider work so well to balance the furniture as well.

Next, we chose the color scheme—a blend of neutrals with sage green, rich browns and tans. Neutral nurseries are still popular, but most clients want at least a punch of color somewhere. Sage green is so beautiful and works in almost any home, so went with a medium sage wall color. We chose a large neutral patterned rug to give the floor some interest, and paired that with a faux sheepskin rug for extra texture.

We finished off the nursery with neutral blackout drapery, some whimsical horse artwork, a wood side table with storage, and an adorable pear storage basket. With any modern nursery design, the key is texture, layers and warmth so it feels inviting even with clean lines.
