Blue Floral Nursery with Traditional Parisian Charm

I always love when a client wants to add blue in a girl’s nursery. This client wanted a blue floral nursery with lots of Parisian charm. You may have seen our post a few weeks back about Bridgerton Inspired Nursery Decor, and this client definitely wanted something along those lines! She contacted us for a nursery Virtual Design wanting a space for her baby girl that was feminine with touches of blue, gold and florals. She loved the idea of a blue Chinoiserie style floral wallpaper and of course we ran with that!

If you’re a follower of LCI, you know we always start with the nursery floor plan. As you can see below, this nursery had plenty of space so we didn’t have any challenges fitting in the furniture. The room only has the one small window, so we wanted to include light and bright finishes to brighten up the space.

This client wanted a French inspired nursery design with Parisian accents, blue floral wallpaper and not too much pink. After some back and forth, we decided that adding wall paneling would greatly brighten up the nursery since it previously had dark gray walls. Then we found this incredible blue chinoiserie wallpaper with little birds and it stole our hearts! Once we chose the wallpaper, we decided to also add white wall paneling around the whole room. Wall paneling helps to break up the wallpapered walls and add some more white to brighten the space.

With Virtual Designs, we can’t always photograph the project. So the next best thing is to get them rendered by a 3D artist! The following are the images from this nursery that are as close to real photography as we can get with virtual clients!

Blue Floral Nursery Design with Parisian Charm

There were high ceilings in this nursery, so we were able to go with a gold canopy crib in a gorgeous antique finish (unfortunately, it’s not available anymore). The gold crib is the statement centerpiece of the room! The great thing about this crib is that it has canopy poles that are removable. This nursery has high ceilings, so they work perfectly here. Plus, the client can always remove them if they ever want to. The antique gold color of the crib works perfectly with the Parisian style she was looking for. The ivory glider recliner and fun floral patterned ottoman also contrast with the crib for more visual interest.

Soft Blue Floral Nursery with Parisian Charm and White Dresser

We paired the gold crib with a white changing table, again to keep things light and bright. We also added a soft blush patterned rug for that pop of pink, and a faux sheepskin accent rug for added texture. We chose some pleated white blackout curtains for the window. Since the window is small, the trick here was to order the curtains wide and tall. Doing this makes the window seem larger, giving the nursery a grander feel.

We added a gold bow mirror over the dresser to help bounce the light around the room, which has a sweet bow detail on the top. We balanced that with some gold bow wall hooks. The dress map artwork over the crib is a Parisian inspired paper dress, and we included some other Paris themed artwork around the room.

We kept things simple with the lighting since so much of the nursery was ornate and traditional. The gold chandelier has a modern touch, and we paired that with a brass floor lamp and a dresser lamp with a subtle bow detail.

Designer Tip: When designing a traditional nursery, keep things balanced. You’ll notice in this design that we balanced the very traditional crib and wallpaper with a more transitional dresser, a clean-lined glider and modern side table.
