This year has been absolutely full of E-Designs! We’ve never had more bookings before, and love creating nursery E-Designs for so many clients across the United States. This particular client wanted us to design a soft and neutral nursery with touches of both modern and traditional style. She wanted the space to feel serene and calming, with only a little blue and gold to go along with the neutrals.

The room had a built-in storage area that the client wanted to keep and use as an additional surface. Since the room was on the smaller side, having this little extra niche of storage is a huge bonus. So many nurseries we design are small, so it’s always a challenge to get the appropriate storage needs into the space.

Blue Modern Traditional Nursery

Sheep Art | Brass Chandelier | Blue Blackout Curtains | Wall Ledges | Checked Pillow | Cream Glider | Cream Rope Pouf | Grey Ombre Side Table | Neutral Rug | Small Plant | Neutral Landscape Art | Faux Olive Tree | White Planter | Gold Round Mirror | White Traditional Dresser | Wood Branch Lamp | White Crib

Our client wanted a little blue, so we brought this color into the room in subtle ways. Since the walls are white, we decided that some soft blue blackout curtains would be a nice contrast. There’s also a touch of blue in the throw blanket, area rug and the abstract artwork. Everything else is neutral, aside from the gold elements like the light fixture and wall mirror. But of course, we added some greenery as well since we consider that a neutral!

For the artwork, this client wasn’t sure what she wanted, but did mention that she liked sheep as a potential subject matter. Artwork is often very tricky since it can be so personal, so we went in search of some sheep artwork that felt sophisticated and sweet.

This client also wanted a little natural texture incorporated into the room. We accomplished this by bringing in a wood texture lamp and a woven ottoman. Layering textures is the best way to get this look—you can see that the glider, throw pillow and ottoman are all different textures even though they are in the same area.

The room initially had a ceiling fan, but our client wanted to replace it with a lighting fixture. Sticking with the non-juvenile request, we wanted a light fixture that would last with the baby throughout the years! The ceilings were about 8′ in this nursery, so it was important to find a light fixture that didn’t hang too low, hence the semi-flush fixture.

We loved the way this room turned out! With the traditional and modern elements along with the soft neutrals, this nursery will be a calming space for this family to grow into throughout the years.
