When Tara Brose reached out to me for help with her nursery design, she knew exactly what she envisioned: a serene sanctuary that blended coastal charm with organic, natural touches. Her wishlist included sage green details, a beachy atmosphere, and warm wooden finishes. She wanted a nursery design that would be both calming and enduring. I couldn’t wait to transform her vision into reality!

We started with the floor plan. This was a small nursery, but we were able to fit a crib, dresser and glider. The good news is that she had a large window that let in a ton of natural light! We capitalized on that natural light by adding a mirror over the dresser to help bounce the light around. There was also some space for extra storage items like the storage bin and wall ledges above the glider.

The ellska Skye crib by ergoPouch completely captured Tara’s heart, and I’d actually seen it myself at trade shows earlier in the year. It’s such a beautiful piece! Since it launched so recently, Tara became the very first U.S. client to receive one. Its rich wood finish and elegant curved design were absolutely perfect for the coastal aesthetic we were creating. One of the best features of this crib is that it’s super easy to assemble and can be fully put together in 10 minutes! The beautiful curve is not only aesthetic, but is actually ergonomically designed to support parents bending over to put their baby in the crib.

Tara loved the idea of adding wall paneling to the nursery and many of her inspiration photos included this element. We planned the paneling to end a few inches above where the top of the crib sits which creates a stunning backdrop that makes the crib the focal point. The gentle sage green shade (Benjamin Moore Sage Wisdom) is ideal for the space, bringing an organic, earthy quality to the room. We built on the sage foundation by introducing soft beige tones, creamy whites, and organic textures throughout the design.

Since Tara’s husband works as a photographer, they wanted to showcase some of his work to add a meaningful, personal element. The couple selected 3 stunning prints from trips they’d taken together and adjusted them to coordinate with our color palette. Then, we flanked the window with textured wall planters to create symmetry with the artwork while incorporating more natural materials. The planters have a curved shape that echos the crib’s curves!

Given the small size of this nursery, we opted for airy, light window treatments. There are actually two layers—blackout curtains on top and a sheer layer underneath for maximum flexibility. But without question, the crib is the star of this room! With its gentle curves and natural beechwood, it balances form and function perfectly, bringing a soft serenity to the nursery.
