If you’ve been seeing more nursery designs with sweet traditional details, it’s because more and more clients are asking for them! This Virtual Nursery Design below was for a client who wanted traditional French details in her nursery for her second baby girl. A few years ago, we actually designed her first nursery, which also had many of these same elements.
For the new nursery, she wanted something a bit bolder with whole-room wallpaper and paneling. So we started the search for the perfect wallpaper! We found a stunning traditional floral wallpaper with a neutral background that pops against the white paneling. The floral and vine pattern is so pretty and fits perfectly with the French traditional theme.
Instead of just neutrals and pinks, we wanted to add a little more depth to the design. We started by choosing mix and match nursery furniture—the white traditional crib and a warm wood dresser. We chose a wingback style nursery glider to add to that traditional feel. The overall nursery design also has some sage green, gold and layered neutrals. It all works together creating a soft and serene space.
One small detail that we love using in traditional nursery designs is pink pleat blackout curtains. The header style has pleating and rings instead of the standard flat rod pocket and it makes a huge difference! We chose blackout curtains in blush pink velvet and pink pleat for this design and they look stunning.
The patterned sage green rug was also such a great find! We wanted a rug that brought out the sage green in the wallpaper but that didn’t overwhelm the space with green. This rug has neutrals and sage so it’s still soft yet colorful. We filled out the space with adorable details like the white scalloped wall ledges, gold bow side table, crystal beaded chandelier and blush floral wall art.
