The absolute best part of being a nursery designer is getting to design again for the same families. We’ve had some clients we’ve worked with over years and years, taking them through multiple nurseries, children’s rooms and even teen spaces. The nursery below was for a client we worked with a few years back who is now on their second child. Since they are still using the original nursery we designed, the new baby got a new nursery in another room.
Their first nursery design was gender neutral with sage green, but for this one, they wanted something blue with darker wood furniture. They loved the Liberty crib from Namesake, so we started there. In order to give the room some extra texture, we paired the crib with a two-tone dresser. That way, the nursery feels more open and not as dark.
The room had extra space, so we chose a dark wood bookcase with a more modern feel to go with the clean lines of the dresser. It still has a beautiful walnut finish. To bring in even more depth, we also added some touches of black, like the side table, artwork frames, ceiling fan and curtain hardware. The black helps to anchor the room and add contrast.
The client wanted the nursery to have some traditional elements, so we went with a blue striped blackout curtain and a blue patterned rug that have those elements. We just love how this nursery design came out!
