Does this nursery look familiar? We posted about the Virtual Design reveal for this same nursery a few weeks ago, which showed the renderings that were included in the design package. When we work with clients that are local to Southern California, we will often go and photograph the project. But with Virtual Designs, that’s not possible. So the next best thing is to get them rendered by a 3D artist! These are the images from that nursery that are much more realistic and show the design how it will actually turn out.

Let’s dig in to the details! The client wanted a nursery that was fresh and soft with lots of traditional leaning details. She also wanted to panel the whole room, but when we started talking about the budget and the complexity of that, she decided instead to install a chair rail and then paint below it. That way, the room has a paneled look without the cost and headache of installing paneling around the whole nursery.

We talked for a bit about the color of the faux-paneling, and she definitely wanted it to be pink, but not baby pink. She loved a more mauve pink and so we chose a soft mauve for that detailing. The decision to also paint the doors and crown molding makes a huge difference in the room and makes the whole thing feel pulled together.

To break up the mauve, we opted for a delicate floral wallpaper with a white background. We also chose to keep the ceiling white so the room didn’t start to feel overwhelming. Next, we had a little fun choosing the nursery furniture! Instead of going with pieces that all matched, we chose a gold crib and a slate blue dresser. The slate blue brings in an unexpected pop of color and contrast that gives the nursery a richer feel. The glider is neutral, which means they can reuse it in a future nursery design as well.

To give the room even more of a traditional feel, we chose a gorgeous medallion pattern rug in neutral tones. Rugs with a pattern are great for nurseries since they will help to hide stains. The gold side table brings in a little touch of glam. We finished off the glider corner with a storage ottoman, which is a must-have for a nursery. See some of our favorite storage ottomans here!

In the image above, you can really see how the gold, white and blue furniture all work together. The floral wallpaper has a touch of slate blue in it as well, which ties in the dresser. We love how this nursery design turned out!

If you’re considering adding paneling to your nursery but don’t want to go overboard on the budget, this option is a great one. Just add a simple chair rail and then paint the section below it. You can also paint the other molding, doors and crown to create a cohesive and designer look!
