The absolute best part of my job as a nursery and kid’s room designer is getting to come back again and again to work with the same families. I’ve been working with this family for years and worked on rooms both of their girls. We started by designing the first girl’s nursery, and then the second girl’s nursery in a previous home. When they moved into a new home, of course we had to come back to redesign their spaces!

The oldest daughter was ready to transition into a big girl room, so for the new home, we chose a twin bed instead of a crib for her. We reused the white dresser, table lamp, chinoiserie butterfly artwork and faux floor plant, as well as a few other things. Then we refreshed the room with new pieces to give her space to grow.

This room was a plain white box, so we knew that it needed a wall treatment to give it some personality. We chose an adorable pink woodland theme wall mural with lots of animals for her to look at. Then we chose a twin wood bed with a house shape to add dimension to the room. There were high ceilings, so the house bed also makes the room feel more cozy and intimate. The weathered wood look also brings in some texture and warmth, and it’s low to the ground so she can get in and out easily (she’s only 3 years old).

The white dresser we repurposed from the previous home works perfectly, as does the gorgeous artwork above it. We added a new pretty pink rug, and layered a washable faux sheepskin rug on top. The bedding is layered with whites and various shades of pink, and there are plenty of cute throw pillows.

Since this room had an attached bathroom, we gave that a glow-up as well! We painted the walls a soft pink to coordinate with the wallpaper, and added a pretty round floral mirror. A few accessories and a set of perfect faux peonies is all this little girl’s bathroom needed.

And of course, we couldn’t forget to add a chandelier! Especially since this room had higher ceilings, it was important to add some lighting not only for function, but to bring the design together as well. The white floral chandelier is perfect! We finished off the space with custom roman shades in white with a little pink pattern, and some large stuffed animals to make the room feel playful.

Keep an eye out for her sister’s nursery soon!
