We’ve seen so much neutral in the design world lately, and it seems like clients are finally starting to experiment with bolder color again. This nursery E-Design client had a vision of a bold upscale nursery with hints of glamour and some animal themed decor. So we set our sights on creating an upscale nursery with safari type elements, looking for sophisticated pieces that will grow with the child when the room changes.

Bold Safari Nursery Design

Woodgrain Dresser | Green Rug | Gold Animal Wall Hooks | Wood and Gold Wall Shelves | Black Arch Crib | Tribal Throw Blanket | Elephant Art | Leather Modern Chandelier | Striped Curtains | Oversized Ivory Glider | Faux Fur Pillow | Round Cheetah OttomanGold Starburst Mirror | Black Table Lamp | Wood Grain Dresser | Black Woven Bin

The room has super high ceilings which we wanted to highlight. First, we found a sizable standout chandelier that helps draws your eye right up! With its abstract arms and sleek silhouette, it not only makes a statement but also bounces light around the room in different directions. The vertical black and white curtains are the second thing we added for a dramatic height effect. Again, these help direct the eye upwards for drama and sophistication.

We wanted to continue focusing on the room’s height by adding a crib that had some height as well. The black crib with slender spindles and tall arching sides was perfect for this space. The glider is a nice size as well! Most nurseries on are on the smaller side, so it was great to be able to fit a larger glider in this space.

When we were asked to add safari and animal elements to the room, we wanted to make sure that nothing felt overly thematic or too juvenile. For that reason we added elements like the artwork, pillow, and wall hooks, which could be interchangeable down the line. To add to the theme in a not-so-literal way, we added texture! The texture of the wood dresser and woven basket tie into the theme in a more subtle way.

This nursery was so fun to design! We always love a chance to go bold and have a space to add elements we usually have to keep small. This room is one we can’t wait to see grow with the child and be a space for both the children and the parents to enjoy spending time in.
