I am so excited to share this e-design reveal that is a recent favorite of mine! I created this look for a North Carolina native who was looking to pay homage to her Southern roots. She referred to her style as “Southern charm meets coastal”. She had a strong vision for the atmosphere she was after, and she was not afraid to go all out with the theme! I really enjoy designing a nursery that reflects my client’s background. This makes the design feel so much more personal and special.
The Souther River Wallpaper Mural sets the scene for both the feeling and the color palette of this nursery design. It truly was the perfect find. Wall murals are a great solution for evoking a setting or mood, and the soft and subtle tones in this mural do just that. We chose to paint the remainder of the walls a muted light blue/green to create a sense of peacefulness and calm.

With the mural acting as the focal point of this design, I aimed to keep the remaining pieces more neutral and used a variety of textures for additional interest. A chunky jute rug made for the perfect fit for a coastal southern feel. The color palette works around creamy pastel shades of blue and green found within the mural.
One of my favorite parts of this design is the mint green crib. My client knew she wanted this crib because of its unique design and color, and it worked so well with the wall mural and overall theme. With the addition of a daybed, I was really able to layer on pillows to tie the entire look together. Soft gold finishes are used sparingly just for a touch of metallic interest. I absolutely love how this design came out. It’s soft, it’s moody, and it’s unique to the client!
