Blue Floral Chinoiserie Girl’s Bedroom Design Reveal

If there’s one thing we can say about how nursery and children’s room trend have been developing lately, it’s that florals and more traditional patterns are back! We had a long stretch with neutral-only designs, and are now seeing clients asking for more color and patterns like Chinoiserie and delicate traditional patterns. We love to mix these types of traditional elements with more modern pieces to balance a space and keep it contemporary.

This client had a pre-teen aged daughter who’s room was lime green, bright orange and aqua blue. She wanted to redesign the room so it was more subtle and toned down for her growing maturity. She wanted to add some Asian inspired touches throughout the space, like the Chinoiserie wallpaper.

The silver canopy bed was actually in her sister’s room, and we moved it into this room. It was a long process to find the perfect wallpaper, but we finally did! In order to accent the wallpaper and give texture to the rest of the room, we added wall paneling on the lower portion of the walls. It really makes the wallpaper pop and adds so much richness to the design.

One of my favorite pieces in this room is actually the rug. It’s a stunning teal color and has a textured pattern and sheen. It brings out the teal that’s in the wallpaper and balances the other lighter blues in the room. The roman shade was custom made in a coordinating fabric to give the overall design even more interest.

The opposite side of the room has a beautiful textured white dresser and a blush chair. Every teenager needs a place to lounge in their room! The blush of the chair perfectly balances the blush in the wallpaper and on the bed, but without making the room feel overly pink.

Every detail in this space was thought out, down to the lamp shade. The white nightstand is also Asian inspired to add to that theme. The client wanted to have a custom made shade to coordinate with the room, and it looks perfect. Luckily, the room has a nice large closet, so we were able to keep things in the room more simple and clean.
