We’ve been designing a lot of nurseries with botanical patterns and moody colors lately, but we still have a lot of clients requesting a neutral nursery. This Virtual E-Design client wanted a nursery that was soft and soothing with all neutrals and lots of texture.

The biggest challenge in this room was that the home was very modern. The nursery design she wanted was softer and more transitional, so we needed to come up with a way to marry the two together.

Neutral Nursery with Mid Tone Wood Furniture

Oak Crib | Oak Dresser | Compact White Boucle Glider | White Boucle Ottoman | Neutral Rug | Neutral Texture Wallpaper | Wood Floor Lamp | Sheepskin Accent Rug | Neutral Wall Art | Neutral Black Out Curtains | Ivory Bone Round Mirror | White Wall Ledges | Neutral Rattan Chandelier | Tan Throw Pillow | Changing Table Basket | Neutral Alpaca Throw Blanket | Silicone Changing Pad

As you can see above, we chose warm wood nursery furniture as the foundation for the space. For the glider, we wanted to go more modern since the doors and fixtures in the room were modern. We also chose a glider with a silver base to tie in the existing silver hardware in the room.

Our client really wanted lots of texture. The glider has a great boucle texture, and we also added an accent rug, textured pattern wallpaper and some other cozy decor. The rattan texture of the chandelier also adds to the space and its modern shape flows with the rest of the design.

Neutral & Warm Wood Nursery Design

As you can see in the floor plan above, the whole right wall was closet doors. It made the floor plan a little tricky, but we also knew that she would have plenty of storage! In rooms like this where the floor plan isn’t straightforward, we always start with the crib. Crib safety is super important, and everything else can come after that. We decided to put the crib on the left wall so it’s visible from the hallway.

We finished off the nursery design with blackout curtains, some little wall ledges for books, a beautiful mirror above the dresser and some lightweight neutral artwork over the crib.
